Ashurbanipal: The Last Great King of Assyria is a promenade theatre experience that immerses the audience in Ancient Assyrian history.
Written by renowned Assyriologist L. S. Wisnom and directed by Catharsis’s Justin Miles Murray, this is a production where historical accuracy and cultural representation sit alongside a gripping political drama and multi-sensory immersion techniques.
The project was developed in an exceptionally quick turnaround, in order to tie in with the high-profile British Museum exhibition about Ashurbanipal. I have also, for the first time, been working with an Assistant Producer alongside me, which has been a fantastic learning experience.
The original London run at The Crypt Gallery in Euston totally sold out, even when additional tickets were added, and received great feedback from audiences – Assyriologists and theatre fans alike!
