Life is not a Dress Rehearsal
Simply put, I love helping creative people do what they do best. That takes the form of collaborating with and facilitating amazing people in the creative process to develop unique and thought-provoking audience experiences.
As a Theatremaker and Creative Producer, my diverse experience has included immersive theatre, queer arts festivals, innovative interactive technology and rural community outreach. I weave these seemingly disparate threads together, using a range of creative tools and forms to dismantle barriers and shatter preconceptions, both within the cultural industries and wider society.

Matthew Austin, MAYK
I bring the unique outlook of being disabled, queer and from a rural, working-class background, but have overcome these barriers to become one of the most exciting emerging producers working in the South West. I’ve always been passionate about the power of thought-provoking and ethically engaged performance, and am particularly drawn to theatre that uses creative and playful form.
I started my professional life in account management roles in design and marketing agencies – building transferable skills of working with creatives and clients to deliver projects on-time and on-budget.
In 2018, I graduated an MA in Creative Producing with UWE, a course developed in close partnership with Watershed’s Pervasive Media Studio with a strong focus on industry experience, creative placemaking and cultural leadership.
More recently I’ve returned to my roots in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, but work across the South West and further afield.
My work has encompassed a wide range of organisations and projects, from award-winning digital experiences to sold-out immersive theatre, city-wide festivals to rural community projects.
